Catching Our Breath

After catching our breath a bit...

it's back to work...

in the company of clouds of butterflies dancing in the gardens.

Sharing a Perfect Day!

What a perfect day for our garden tour! To borrow words from our friend Susie - even the butterflies knew what to do! Shelly's plan to serve ice cream sundaes for our event was complimented by the fact that it was National Ice Cream Day!
Thank you for the honor of sharing the magic of our gardens with you!
Sharing Special Memories....
In memory of Mom and Dad Fase, the Pergola table was set with china pattern identical to a set they once owned. The napkins were a gift from Mom and Dad and were tied with a simple strand of raffia, a sprig of asparagus fern and a Heliopsis bloom. We designed the centerpiece from a silver tea service and used miniature sunflowers in the teapot and creamer. A special touch to our garden tour day!

A Special Weekend For Garden Tours!

It's been a busy week of pruning and polishing in preparation for Sunday's Hooper Area Community Foundation Garden Tour. I am very grateful to the Bopps, Wobkens and O'Connor-Rupperts for allowing their gardens to be included in the Foundation tour. Their gardens are beautiful and you are in for a real treat! We hope you will join us on Sunday from 11 to 4. Tickets are $10.00 and are available on the day of the tour at our home.
The dry creekbed that graces the front of our home....
If you are looking for a full weekend of beautiful blooms and inspiring gardens, Main Street Fremont is also holding their Garden Walk on Saturday from 10 to 3. Main Street's tour includes six gardens in Fremont and the stunning garden at the May Museum. Tickets are $15.00 and include lunch at the Clarence and Hope Mock garden. I will see you there!!

Watch the blog next week for highlights of the garden tours!

Determination

There is a life lesson here! Where there is a will, there is a way.
This little Mexican Flame Vine crawled through the smallest crack in the potting shed window and is blooming beautifully inside. Maybe it wanted it's own special view of the rose garden??
Which of your life's lessons does this make you recall?

Beauty And The Beast

There is no fragrance like a Plumeria- another unexpected treasure in our prairie garden!
It's time to declare war on the grasshoppers! For an environmentally friendly solution try Semaspore. In lieu of a very technical explanation....we call it the grasshopper disease. Semaspore comes in the form of a bran that the grasshoppers eat. It works best on the smaller 'hoppers' so now is the time to apply the bran. If you need a source for Semaspore send me an email.
